Tracient’s RFID Discovery Kits enable you to quickly and cheaply explore the benefits of RFID. Improved asset visibility and faster decision making at the point of data capture are key drivers, but the difficulty is evaluating how effective introducing the technology will be without excessive financial commitment. Tracient  provides a low cost option enabling you to test RFID in your business utilising your exisiting field automation tools such as smartphones or PDAs.


 

The Padl-R HF discovery kit includes a handheld RFID reader plus the software (drivers) required to interface the reader with your computing devices (handheld computers, PDAs, laptops, smartphones). The kit has three convenient application examples which get you up and running without having to spend any time coding software:

1. RFIDWedge lets you export data from the reader and transfer it straight into your office application (just like a bar code keyboard wedge). You can have a Microsoft Excel™ spreadsheet collecting tags in about 1 minute, straight out of the box.

2. RFIDSync allows you to capture tag IDs and data in the reader's log then download them to a PC or Laptop via USB. The application automatically filters out duplicate tags.

3. Reader Demo shows the IDs of tags as they are read, the number of unique tags read and the maximum read rate. 

The Discovery Kit also contains Tracient's SDK which has a complete application interface library with wrappers for desktop and handheld devices running Microsoft Windows™, Microsoft Windows Mobile™ and .NET operating systems. Web-based application developers can use the ActiveX™ control to create web browser applications that talk to the reader. You can use these to run your application over the web with minimal software on your handheld.

It is also possible to have your application run as a Java J2ME midlet on your mobile phone whilst talking to the Padl-R HF reader. Please contact us for more information on this option.

We are in the process of updating our Discovery Kit information to coincide with a new release of a full range of applications to run on:

  • Microsoft Windows XP/200/Vista Desktop operating system platforms
  • Microsoft Mindows Mobile 2005, 2006, PocketPC2003  (WinCE .NET) Handhelp OS platforms for PDAs and Smartphones
  • Java J2ME platforms compliant with MIDP2.0 and supporting JSR-82 Bluetooth implmentations
  • Thin Client browsers supporting Microsoft ActiveX controls

All new applications that will run over plug and play USB or Bluetooth (suppoorting MS, Widcomm, BlueSoleil and other Stack) will include:

  • RFIDWedge - Out of the Box Tag UID  and data read operations with outputs to XML, MS Excel, CSV, and other formats
  • RFIDWedge - traditional "barcode scanwedge" type emulation with plain ascii outputs to terminal emulators and dumb monitors
  • RFIDSync - data log synchronisation tools to mutiple file formats and including filtering and aggregation functions
  • Simple Asset Management Thin client applications, web or wlan based access to SQLServer Databases.
